Daan Smits is a versatile tenor with a great passion for the pop and musical genre. Besides singing, his heart really lies in teaching. He coaches many famous singers at the Universal Voice Institute.
In 2012 Daan graduated from the Music Theater Academy of the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. Immediately after graduating, he was allowed to start teaching here at the same training as a singing teacher. Other places where Daan has taught besides Codarts are Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts and the Frank Sanders Akademie in Amsterdam.
As a singer / actor, Daan has been and can be seen in various theater productions for years. He was part of the cast of the well-known musical Soldaat van Oranje, Onder de groen Hemel van Bos Theaterproducties, Miffy (as Father Pluis). Last theater season he played the role of teacher Tino van Dijk in Spijt, after the well-known book by Carry Slee.
In addition to playing in musicals, Daan is also often active as a vocal coach. As a musical director and vocal coach he was associated with various productions. For example, Daan did vocal coaching for the successful show Chez Brood, the TV series Petticoat and he was musical director for various amateur productions.
